Practical Nursing

The BCTC School of Practical Nursing held its first pinning ceremony and graduation on August 11, 2023. We are pleased to report that all of our graduates passed their LPN licensure exam.

Practical nurses practice the art and science of nursing, providing compassionate, comprehensive, and competent care to patients of all ages. LPNs are essential members of the healthcare team. There is a great need for highly-qualified nurses in the region and throughout the nation. BCTC School of Practical Nursing was founded to address this nursing shortage.

Boone Career and Technical Center (BCTC) School of Practical Nursing offers prospective students in Boone County and surrounding areas the opportunity to receive a high-quality nursing education that will prepare them to be successful nurses.

The goals of the School of Practical Nursing are to:

Provide a base of theory and practice to develop knowledge and skills as a practical nurse.
Provide a program of practical nursing with ongoing review to maintain the highest standard of practice.
Support the profession by preparing graduates who are competent in the skills of a practical nurse, and as members of the health care team.
Prepare graduates to successfully pass the NCLEX-PN licensure examination.
Produce graduates who comply with the scope of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses.
Produce graduates who serve as competent, compassionate members of the healthcare team.
